Overview

Every user in your organisation has one of two system roles: Negotiator or Administrator. Your system role determines whether you can manage your organisation's settings. It is separate from your job title.

Both system roles can use Lighthouse for everyday work, including leads, the diary, properties and contacts.

Negotiator

Negotiator is the default system role when you add a user.

Negotiators can use Lighthouse for their everyday work and view users and offices in Settings. The Users and Offices tabs are read-only, so they can't add, edit, deactivate or reactivate users or offices.

Negotiators can't manage property portals. The Portals tab is only shown to Administrators.

Administrator

Administrators can do everything a Negotiator can. They can also:

  • Add users and edit their details, system role and office.

  • Deactivate and reactivate users.

  • Add, edit, deactivate and reactivate offices.

  • Manage property portals from Settings > Portals.

For more about managing users and offices, see Setting up your organisation.

Changing a user's system role

You must be an Administrator to change another user's system role. You can't change your own system role.

  1. Click your avatar in the top-right corner and select Settings.

  2. Choose the Users tab.

  3. Select Edit on the user's row.

  4. Choose Negotiator or Administrator under System role.

  5. Select Save user.

If you need Administrator access

If you can't make a change in Settings, ask an Administrator at your organisation to make it for you.

If managing these settings is part of your job, ask another Administrator to update your system role.
